The Windupdeads formed in 2007 from the ashes of Froid, a Swedish band that featured the talents of Rickard Olsen (vocals/guitar), Jonas Westholm (bass), and Marcus van Boisman (drums). The three musicians launched their new alternative pop/rock group with the help of guitarist Peter Ingman, and the Windupdeads officially took root that summer. The remainder of 2007 was spent recording the band's debut album, which received a dose of advance exposure when the track "Reverse of Shade" appeared in an episode of Gossip Girl during 2008.
