Thought Gang is the collective moniker of long-time collaborators <a href="spotify:artist:2Gu6Q05ExIGwHTF43kqLBI">David Lynch</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:3Eeb1U0VJTDaFpBHV4DmHl">Angelo Badalamenti</a>. Having provided the music for <a href="spotify:artist:2Gu6Q05ExIGwHTF43kqLBI">Lynch</a>'s Blue Velvet, the composer found himself again working with the director on the TV series Twin Peaks. By the time they began to work on the movie Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, <a href="spotify:artist:3Eeb1U0VJTDaFpBHV4DmHl">Badalamenti</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:2Gu6Q05ExIGwHTF43kqLBI">Lynch</a> founded a purely musical side project they called Thought Gang. The material they created in the early '90s was a departure from the cool jazz that predominated Twin Peaks and took a far more experimental and obscure angle. Two of the tracks the duo recorded were eventually put on the Fire Walk with Me soundtrack, but the rest of the material remained unreleased for many years.
