Much of two-piece band Tinkerbelles' work since originating in 2013 from Sargent House’s personae non gratae band, Gypsyblood, has revolved around concepts that seem to grow organically out of a single stem rather then the conventional and uninspired.
The Chicago-based Tinkerbelles, which lists bands like Wire, The Shangri-Las, Lightning Bolt and The Clean as influences, drew its name from the eponymous Andy Warhol Superstar who committed suicide in 1986 when the proverbial party had stopped, a gesture echoing the band’s prolific use of pop culture and collapse. Adam James Mohundro (bass/vocals) and Peter Christian Dawson’s (drums/vocals) "in-the-audience" style live performances reflect the duo’s rebellious sensibility and fascination with impulse and élan; evidenced even further in 2015’s "40 Walls Tour", consisting of a World Record attempt at 40 shows in 10 days across 8 states; soon to be witnessed in, "Tinkerbelles: 40 Walls Tour", a feature length, multimedia documentary coming out in 2021.
With the announcement of 2019’s Deadly Dangerous Tigers, a year in which each performance culminated in a different socio-structural art installation and the Chicago Reader dubbing them "A postpunk duo who make big, catchy songs without even seeming to try", their work continues to reflect a clear joy in performing and distinctive style not only to entertain, but to remain a refreshing new voice in American music.
