Tom Paley was well known from his years with <a href="spotify:artist:4fqd1tgX1D2YESwxzr2cvd">the New Lost City Ramblers</a> in the late '50s and early '60s. After moving to Sweden and then to England, Paley continued to advance traditional music from throughout the world, recording with traditional artists including <a href="spotify:artist:7cWhIVoEYJd0oWnxULFt8s">Jean Ritchie</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:0gXQn7UrpopDb2TIkmIjoU">Peggy Seeger</a>. He also added traditional Scandinavian music to his repertoire, collaborating with his son <a href="spotify:artist:0LTaSv0ug9q61K5GEGr4A6">Ben</a> on such albums as On a Cold Winter Night (1993) and Svenska Låtar: Swedish Fiddle Tunes (1998). Always a fine source of unusual traditional music, Tom Paley continued recording into the 21st century, issuing Beware Young Ladies! (with <a href="spotify:artist:6PtJvHpxqOO0fntEkbN18l">Bert Deivert</a>) in 2007. He died in Brighton, England in September 2017 at the age of 89. ~ Don Stevens, Rovi
