TRESOR is an African Pop Maverick. Renowned for his distinct sound, which has won him Best Pop Album of the year award for debut album VII, sophomore album The Beautiful Madness, and more recently for his album Nostalgia, at The South African Music Awards in 2016, 2018 and 2019.
He recently co-wrote and produced Drake “Fountains” ft. Tems featured on his record breaking album Certified Lover Boy. He also collaborated with Metallica on “Nothing Else Matters” for the new Blacklist album.
His recent collaboration album with South African Dance pioneers Scorpion Kings titled “Rumble In The Jungle” has received rave reviews globally.
His songs reflect a peregrine of life shared by so many on the continent of Africa, but few are able to express their experiences in a way that captures the ear so universally and directly. Orphaned at an early age, he left Goma in the Eastern DRC after finishing high school with the sole purpose of pursuing a professional music career in South Africa.
Despite the challenges, TRESOR managed to survive earning a living - working both as car guard by day; and security guard by night. In between the two jobs he managed to hustle his way into the local Durban music scene, linking up with local musicians and music makers and quickly making a name for himself.
TRESOR is a keen philanthropist. He is an ambassador for Nelson Mandela Children Fund and also a United Refugee Agency ambassador advocating refugees rights.
