Wij is a peculiar entity consisting of 6 legs, 3 heads and one solid idea for their sonic journey. Consisting of band members that have gained plenty of experience in other musical endeavors over the past years, Wij crawls in the shadows and plays with the idea of minimalist 70’s-style proto-metal combined with classic rock compositions and unique, high-pitch female Polish vocals. Lyrically, the band touches upon themes of superstition, darkness, eroticism, foul traditions and cosmic civilizations, which altogether forms a rather intriguing blend that is all so well supported with baritone guitar passages and punishing drum work.
2022 saw a new chapter in the band’s development as they signed on to Piranha Music on behalf of their released brand new EP “Przeklęte Wody”, followed by the highly appreciated full-length album “Przestwór”. Exactly a year and a half after that the trio returns with new material, titled "Bluzg", which consists of six fresh tracks that could surprise even the biggest Wij fans. The EP is a creative station before the next longplay album, a space to take a musical breath in search of something fresh. But where to find a soil so fertile for future growth if not in a dark, damp basement?
