Formed in 2011, Baltimore-based indie quintet Wildhoney (vocalist Lauren Shusterich, guitarists Joe Trainor and Marybeth Mareski, bassist Alan Everhart and drummer Zac Inscho) play a mix of textured shoegaze and noise pop with influences ranging from '60s girl groups to '80s post-punk. After building their sound and reputation in Baltimore's vibrant indie scene, they self-released a pair of well-regarded 7" EPs in 2013 and 2014, which led them to sign with Canadian punk label Deranged Records. Working with producer Chris Freeland (Wye Oak, Lower Dens), they recorded their debut LP, Sleep Through It, which was released in early 2015. Jumping over to Topshelf Records, they released a six-song EP, Your Face Sideways, later that year. ~ Timothy Monger, Rovi
