Versatile singer/rapper and producer Young Rog has been active since the mid-2010s and affiliated with <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22LVRN%22">LVRN</a>, the well-regarded label home to the likes of <a href="spotify:artist:4IVAbR2w4JJNJDDRFP3E83">6LACK</a> and duet partner <a href="spotify:artist:57LYzLEk2LcFghVwuWbcuS">Summer Walker</a>, since 2018. While with <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22LVRN%22">LVRN</a>, he has taken a slow and steady approach with his output, offering a handful of singles -- such as the cold-blooded "New" and lithe slow jam "Destiny" -- up to the 2021 release of Boy Next Door, his first full-length recording.
A native of Newport News, Virginia, Roger Atwell started to make a name for himself as Young Rog around 2014 with SoundCloud uploads. Among his earliest and most popular tracks were the self-produced "Think I'm Flexin" and the <a href="spotify:artist:3EW0kQ1skZiK1NHg3Spt9J">Takeoff</a> collaboration "Workin." Subsequently added to the roster of the <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Interscope%22">Interscope</a>-distributed <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22LVRN%22">LVRN</a> (short for Love Renaissance), Rog was behind three singles issued commercially from 2018 through 2020: "Ex-mas Song," "New," and "On the Road."
