On their 4th album BLACK CAT, 8mm—producer/director/writer/vocalist Juliette Beavan, multi-instrumentalist/producer Sean Beavan (Nine Inch Nails, No Doubt, A Perfect Circle) and guitarist/multi-instrumentalist/composer Jonny Radtke (Filter, Kill Hannah, Polar Moon)—have drawn up their own cartography of a brave new world you’ve never been to.

BLACK CAT is a lattice of sonic catacombs, dreams within dreams, sometimes opiate, other times omnipotent, and all of them compelling. The songs 8mm have conjured come from headspaces ranging from android emotion, declarations of self-actualization couched in pale blue CCTV light, and the sudden opacity of loss in a cold room.

There are 10 different aural mind-movies on BLACK CAT and all of them command repeated listenings. It is a trip-hop journey down the rabbit hole and into a wonderland of dark textures, cinematic vocals, aching guitars, and electronic grooves. BLACK CAT is equal parts empath balm and fantastic sonic voyage, the kind of stimulus that reminds you that a moment of art can rise above your tired, swipe-left, hamster-wheel existence. Your commitment to their process is necessary to your personal levitation.
