An Horse

AN HORSE started out in 2008 as an after-work hobby for Kate Cooper (guitar, vocals) and Damon Cox (drums, vocals). The two friends worked together in a basement record store in Brisbane, Australia called Skinny&#39;s Music and would set up and rehearse there after hours and mess around with song ideas. After recording an EP&#39;s worth of material, Kate handed a rough mix CD to Canadian duo <a href="spotify:artist:5e1BZulIiYWPRm8yogwUYH" data-name="Tegan and Sara">Tegan and Sara</a> at an in-store appearance at Skinny&#39;s. They liked the songs so much that they invited the band to tour the US on The Con/Out Of Hibernation Tour. Off the strength of those shows An Horse signed with then new NYC label Mom + Pop and went on to release 2 albums; 2009&#39;s <a href="spotify:album:2Spr7EMaqkUXxYRxyK1pK4" data-name="Rearrange Beds">Rearrange Beds</a> and 2011&#39;s <a href="spotify:album:5E4Jk3H5eQ9p29rWaCUCIO" data-name="Walls">Walls</a>.

Further touring included runs with <a href="spotify:artist:0YrtvWJMgSdVrk3SfNjTbx" data-name="Death Cab for Cutie">Death Cab for Cutie</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6qyi8X6MdP1lu6B1K6yh3h" data-name="Silversun Pickups">Silversun Pickups</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:26T3LtbuGT1Fu9m0eRq5X3" data-name="Cage The Elephant">Cage The Elephant</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:5wFXmYsg3KFJ8BDsQudJ4f" data-name="Manchester Orchestra">Manchester Orchestra</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:168dgYui7ExaU612eooDF1" data-name="Brand New">Brand New</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:1sylmUjlKYsLA49YtkNHW3" data-name="Cursive">Cursive</a>, The Appleseed Cast, <a href="spotify:artist:1s2pki7lATUaBOL76E3vCV" data-name="Kaki King">Kaki King</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3faZppLa0MVUYBlyp7zDAo" data-name="Telekinesis">Telekinesis</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:11zHPjHnZN0ACA50rSnTcy" data-name="Nada Surf">Nada Surf</a>. Festival appearances at Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, Osheaga, Green Man, Hurricane, Southside and Falls Festivals also took place, as well as performing <a href="spotify:track:3sGQyxEKPhtwYyccuMbBPR" data-name="Camp Out">Camp Out</a> on The Late Show with David Letterman. 2010’s Beds Rearranged EP was also released and features remixes of An Horse songs by members of <a href="spotify:artist:3HJIB8sYPyxrFGuwvKXSLR" data-name="TV On The Radio">TV On The Radio</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:4AGwPDdh1y8hochNzHy5HC" data-name="RAC">RAC</a> and more.

The band took an extended break from 2013-2017, returning in 2018 to tour with <a href="spotify:artist:5ictveRyhWRs8Gt8Dvt1hS" data-name="The Front Bottoms">The Front Bottoms</a> in the US and in Canada with fellow Aussies <a href="spotify:artist:6OtUfATGYDnx5O23FP6C2s" data-name="Camp Cope">Camp Cope</a>. They then entered the studio with Mike Sapone to record their new album Modern Air, out now.
