Having performed on stages ranging from the most international to the most local, the folktronica trio 青虫 aoi sounds like a mixture of Rhye, AURORA, and Men I Trust. The band consists of lead vocalist and acoustic guitarist Jeannie, bassist Hung Kuo, and electronic guitarist Alan. Formed in 2017, 青虫 aoi rose to stardom two years later by winning first prize at the prestigious Iron Rose Music Competition. Their music, characterized by its gentle and refreshing sound, often weaves social issues and unique Taiwanese culture into multilingual lyrics, appealing to a wide audience across generations. One of their songs, “Prettiest Flower,” was even selected for a junior high school textbook, underscoring their widespread recognition and relatability.
In addition to captivating thousands of fans at Taiwan's largest music festivals such as Megaport and Vagabond. Their debut album Stories of You in 2020 garnered three nominations at the Golden Melody Awards (known as “the Taiwanese Grammys”), including Album of the Year and New Artist of the Year. Their sophomore album Live a Life in 2023 also received four nominations.
