Arsenal Efectivo play straight-ahead, hardcore, modern narcocorridos, and along with <a href="spotify:artist:7yCGrS6Xh3UngvY6Ad5sMJ">Legado 7</a>, are among the progenitors of the "Corridos Verde" movement. The two-guitars-and-bass trio -- supplemented by an array of brass, reeds, and percussion -- generates a music whose energy and performance style are raw and immediate. As is customary within the genre, Arsenal Efectivo's songs focus on the realities of leading the gangster and narco lifestyles. But what is unique is the U.S/California-tinged lens through which these narratives are refracted -- this perspective has won them an enormous audience at digital streaming, and they have since dubbed their own style "trap corridos."
