BK-One, a classically-trained pianist and jazz vibraphonist, has led an eclectic career. Over the last 25 years, the producer/DJ has released a discography that touches on hip hop, jazz, guitar-driven pop, and cut+paste funk edits. In that same time, BK launched and ran a community radio station in South Minneapolis, spent a decade touring as DJ to indy rap icon Brother Ali, and recorded music with legendary MC's like Black Thought and MF Doom, a 9-piece brass band (The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble), and Brazilian legends Arthur Verocai and Helcio Milito. In 2014, BK-One and singer/songwriter Anthony Newes formed Bones & Beeker, once described as sounding like a sample-based Paul Simon. They released an album (2015) and an EP (2018) on Wax Poetics Records. "A Blackbox Recovery" is BK-One's first solo release since 2011's "Tema Do Canibal EP".
