Carlos Márquez began to study piano in his native Spain. He continued his education at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles where he received a Masters of Music and Advanced Studies Certificate under the direction of renowned pedagogue John Perry.
Awards include the First Prize International Piano Competition ‘Nueva Acrópolis’, Second Prize International Piano Competition ‘Xavier Montsalvatge’ of XX Century Piano Music, Second Prize ‘Concurso Permanente de Juventudes Musicales’, Gold Medal ‘Concurso Ciudad de Albacete’ and First Prize ‘Concurso Ciudad de Carlet’.
As a recording artist he enjoys playing not only the traditional repertoire but also pieces from contemporary composers such as Stephan Beneking, Arthur Breur, Tuukka Jokilehto, Santiago Vega and Gerard Farré or seldom played romantic composers such as Blas María Colomer, Vicente Costa Nogueras or John Field.
