The 31 year old Dane, Christian Balvig, is known for his work as composer and arranger for an array of bands and ensembles - Copenhagen Phil, Det Norske Blåsensemble, Love Shop, Lowly, Dreamers Circus and When Saints Go Machine just to name a few. His own records “Music For Humans” and “Associated with Water” has been critically acclaimed internationally.
Christian is working seamlessly across different genres and mediums, and has also been hired as producer, filmscorer and composer-assistant in several occasions. Amongst other documentary movies, can be mentioned: "A Word For Human" (composer) by Mauricio Ananda - Gonzales, “Human Flow” (composer assistant) by Ai Wei Wei and “Gina - Midt I En Drøm” (composer/music producer) by Sofie Lange Jørgensen. With When Saints Go Machine, he just released the score and opening track for the tv - series "Ulven Kommer" on Danish Television (approx 1.000.000 viewers on each episode). Furthermore, Christian has played concerts and festivals all over the world including Japan, India, Vietnam, Gambia, USA and most of Europe, as pianist and keyboardist.
On May 12th, Christian Balvig is set to release his debut solo album Night Poem. The album is an ode to and from the night, a rebellion against constant stimuli, and a meticulous hunt for ghost notes and the almost imperceptible sound of piano keys.
