Mark Beazley has been releasing music under the name Rothko since 1998, on labels such as Bella Union, Lo Recordings, Too Pure and his own Trace Recordings label. Creating music using mainly just the bass guitar, Rothko's sound has invariably been hard to categorise, but is known for its darkly atmospheric sound palette, and Beazley's chiming and counterpoint bass melodies.

On disbanding the original line up in 2000, he was signed to Too Pure in 2001, releasing the album A Continual Search For Origins, enlisting the help of the musicians from the band Delicate AWOL.

Upon leaving Too Pure, Mark started Trace Recordings, and has been releasing his music on the label ever since, the first being Wish For A World Without Hurt, a collaboration with Washington DC based electronic sound artist James Adams aka BLK w/Bear, and the most recent, December 2024''s Eleven Stages Of Intervention - Re-Imagined.

He has also collaborated over the years with legendary electronic producer, Susumu Yokota, Jon Tye of Lo Recordings, Graham Dowdall aka Gagarin, as Low Bias, Steve Parry aka Hwyl Nofio, Caroline Ross of Delicate AWOL, Anne Garner and James Murray [as Tetherdown], Alex Monk and many others...

There is much more to follow...a new single...Breaking Free From Then, is due in February 2025.
