UK-born but now based in Japan, Yamaneko has spent over ten years quietly captivating listeners with his uniquely atmospheric constructions, released primarily on the Local Action label, taking as many cues from the soft edges of ambient and new age music as he does the sharp angles of techno and 8-bar grime.

His debut album, 2014’s Pixel Wave Embrace was an instant cult classic, receiving rave reviews and public support from artists alike. Since then Yamaneko has released four more albums on Local Action, including the wildly popular Spa Commissions 1 and 2, collecting environmental ambient material originally composed for spas in Europe. Elsewhere, Yamaneko has released two solo projects on the 1000Doors label, as well as contributions to Little Corner, and three further album projects under the hauntology-inspired Talbot Fade alias.

While less frequent, Yamaneko has a small treasure trove of remix material for artists including videogame music composer Lena Raine (Celeste, Minecraft), Murlo (Coil Records), Chevel (Houndstooth), and even ambient legend Laraaji (via Lo Recordings).

Yamaneko has built up a strong soundtracking portfolio: lending his music to adverts by Supreme and Reebok, soundtracking art installations by Oliver Payne and You Can Make History, a documentary about London Southbank's skateboarding scene. Since moving to Japan Yamaneko's music has also been commissioned to serve as BGM for selected cafes, and Shibuya's Parco shopping mall.
