Dozi (Hendrik Opperman) is an Afrikaans music icon. The singer and TV personality was born in 1964 in Hluhluwe in Natal and was raised to speak Zulu fluently. As a student he performed in bars and dives at night, resulting in him constantly dozing off in lectures and earning him the nickname, Dozi.
He released his first Zulu album, ‘Mercy’, in 1999 and rose to prominence for his cover of Chris Blignaut’s ‘’Ou Ryperd’’ and released his first Afrikaans Album, ‘’Op Aanvraag’’ in 2001.
He has released over 29 studio albums has performed for the Prince of Monaco, Former President Nelson Mandela and is the first Artist to perform in Afrikaans in The Royal Albert Music Hall.
His latest album ‘’Vrede’’ is thought provoking and poetic, giving fans of Dozi what hey love most about his music; Love, Light and most of all peace.
