I Am Karate is a Swedish pop duo consisting of the producers & songwriters Erika Ahlström and Marta Pettersson. They formed the band in 2014 and released their debut EP "I Am Karate" in 2015. The duo signed with Universal Music in 2016 and released the EP "In Thin Air" and the single "Swayze".
In 2020, they self released their debut album with a new sound that blends mainstream and indie pop. They have released several singles before and since then, and are currently working on more new music. The duo has been praised by publications like The Guardian and The Times for their unique sound. About the duo The Times wrote: “Dark, shiny electropop from the Swedish duo — think Robyn produced by James Blake.”
