As a versatile musician and songwriter from Manila, Julio Banzon explores his own perception of soul pop music accompanied by the influence of jazz, blues, and funk; a genre he likes to call Soul Breeze. Obsessed with always trying to see the sunny side of things, Julio utilizes his music to disguise sorrow as a sound of optimism and hope.
The first single You Got Dreams was released back in 2018 under the name Smoothie Booze; a band that was first formed by Julio and multi-instrumentalist/producer Nathan Asuncion. The two young musicians started the band as a power duo, collaborating with several other musicians for live shows. As they continued to write more music, the band began expansion. They welcomed Santino Andrada on the drums for the recording of the double release Stay Sunny Honey. The trio performed at numerous types of events and shows until the pandemic occurred in 2020.
During the quarantine era, their individual priorities changed, and the band became inactive indefinitely. By 2021, Julio decided to write and record the 4-song EP called Encantadora as a solo artist. The band agreed to undergo the major rebranding from Smoothie Booze to Julio Banzon.
