Kansado

Based in uptown New York City, Dominican-American producer Kansado is part of a “new latin wave” of artists redefining what it means to be “de aquí y de allá” – from both here and there.

As both a multi-instrumentalist and producer, Kansado effortlessly weaves the rhythms of the Caribbean diaspora into hip hop, funk, and lofi. His main focus - create a new experimental beat centric soundscape for latin american music and artists. His musical influences span from latin american artists Bomba Estéreo, Vicente Garcia, and Caribefunk to the experimental styles of Pharrell Williams, Flying Lotus and Thundercat.

In 2018 Kansado released his afro-latin fusion project, Futuro Tumbao. That same year he collaborated with Boilerroom and Presidente Beer to compose the score to the documentary “Más Fuerte”, an introspective film on Dominican sound system culture in New York City and the Dominican Republic. Kansado has performed at SXSW 2022, appeared on World Cafe NPR, BBC Radio 1xtra/6, Soulection Radio, and Bandcamp weekly, and has collaborated with streetwear brand Bodega and HOKA shoes.

Kansado’s first full length album, Guaguansoul, is out September 2022.
