Tyrone Thomas, born in Richmond, Virginia, in 1948, discovered his love for music early, beginning to sing at the age of nine. By 12, he had formed Little Tommy and The Teenagers, a group that later evolved into <a href="spotify:artist:0u6SLHAigezD56IgxRRnh0" data-name="Little Tommy">Little Tommy</a> and the Parakeets and eventually Little Tommy and the Outta Sights.

At 16, Tyrone recorded I'm Hurt b/w Lov'h, the first release for Sound of Soul Records (#100). He toured with the Upsetters and later released I'm Still Hurt b/w Baby Can't You See, the latter becoming a coveted collector's record among soul devotees.

Tyrone contributed as a co-writer and arranger to numerous tracks under the Little Tommy name, including Home Boy b/w Wash My Back. After a clash with Mr. Wiggles, he teamed up with Swamp Dogg in 1969. The resulting album was ultimately released under the name Wolfmoon in 1973, showcasing his wide-ranging versatility and shifting artistry.

In the subsequent years, Tyrone joined Brother Love and formed the group Nobody's Children, recording Geraldine Jones b/w All My Friends Call Me a Fool for Sound of Soul. His impact continued to grow, and in 1976, Tyrone Thomas & The Whole Darn Family released the album Has Arrived, featuring the legendary track Seven Minutes of Funk, which became a seminal cornerstone in hip-hop and funk history.
