Londonbeat was formed in 1987 in London, England by Jimmy Helms, Jimmy Chambers (both soul singers who released solo material on the Pye and Cube labels by the 70s), George Chandler (a member of the Olympic Runners) and (guitarist and producer) William Henshall, aka Willy M. Signed to Dave Stewart's (of Eurythmics) Anxious label, they released their first album, SPEAK, in 1988. "There's A Beat Going On" -you can feel it in your bones- and the unique harmonies of "9 AM" entered the Top 20 of the UK Singles Chart. In 1990, their second album, IN THE BLOOD, contained the magical single "I've Been Thinking About You" which topped the charts in 27 countries. Two more albums, HARMONY (1992) and LONDONBEAT (1994), a notable entry in the Eurovision Song Contest and the band broke up in 1995. Back in early 2000 with a new line up they recorded two albums for the German label Coconut, BACK IN THE HI-LIFE (2003) and GRAVITY (2004). DJs around the world have continued to heat up dance floors with numerous remixes and in the summer of 2019, "I've Been Thinking About You" returns to the top of the US Billboard Dance Charts with Klaas' remix, introducing two brand new tracks "Summer" and "I'm Alive" included in the ‘30 YEARS’ compilation (2019). The band now consists of Jimmy Helms, Jimmy Chambers and Charles Pierre, who has been involved in the production since the early days. They feel like "Some Lucky Guys" and are always keen to share their music. By the way, a new EP is in the works!
