Love Object is the intriguing new Electro Pop project of elusive Moscow duo Dasha Utochka & Danya Mu. Both have previously toured the world as DJs – Utochka as DJ Aktu & Mu as Mucity – whilst Utochka is a co-founder of the erotic magazine Areola. The groups other-worldly sound fuses Electronic Body Music with Electroclash & Darkwave.
Approaching music visually, their imaginary world is populated by characters that could exist in a Cronenberg film. It's a Futuristic Neo-Noir landscape where villains use mind control to question the very meaning of "Human" in our digital society.
Their debut album New Flesh is out now via Italians Do It Better. With numerous references to punk & industrial, each song is injected with a richly layered & combative energy. Track by track, the album offers a fascinating journey through cybernetic wastelands. Opening with a brooding mid-tempo excursion pulsing with synthesizers & electronic bass, we hit the dancefloor running. Vocoder driven vocals & machine gun rhythms nod to Kraftwerk & Depeche Mode.
New Flesh is starkly cold & supremely minimal, melding buoyant pop with cinematic melodrama over the course of nine tracks. The incessant vocal melodies are delivered entirely in Russian as they lock themselves onto your brain & refuse to let go.
