The 7 Midlanders emerged last year with a bang. Their first release "Proud" on Alan Mcgee's Creation 23 label, went to number 2 in the UK vinyl charts and they announced a huge festival slot alongside Primal Scream and Editors. Although the Festival has been postponed for another year, lockdown releases "Truth Don't Shock" and "Spaceman" were released digitally to much acclaim "Great band, Great songwriters" (Mcgee) "Monster of a track" RGM.
The band featured on the Chris Moyles show on Radio X exactly a year ago, and they've been unable to play a gig since. Fortunately, it looks like the UK tour that was planned will still go ahead, with dates being announced on the back of new releases.
"21st Century Gospel" is out on the 26th April. It is the first of many digital releases this year, with an EP featuring all new material due out in August.
Upbeat to the point of euphoria, the anthemic choruses are set amongst verses of everyday life. Yes, Marquis drive just might help you to escape the 9 to 5 and remind you that there is a Friday just around the corner.
Formed under a wandering star somewhere next to a Weatherspoons the 7-piece indie band are born of a mutual love of football, clobber, and of course great music. Having built up a strong reputation up and down the country supporting major acts such as; The Farm, Reverend and the Makers and many more, Marquis Drive have got growing reputation amongst the masses as Indie's worst-kept secret.
