Forged from long-term friendship and a shared passion for pushing audio-visual limits, Mermaidens are the trio of Gussie Larkin (guitar, vocals), Lily West (bass, vocals), and Abe Hollingsworth (drums). Arising from Aotearoa, New Zealand's Wellington, Mermaidens have released three studio albums to date via Flying Nun Records: Look Me In The Eye (2019), Perfect Body (2017) — both records finalists for NZ’s prestigious Taite Music Prize — and their breakout debut Undergrowth (2016). Their self-titled new album launches independently worldwide on 3rd November 2023.
Shining stars of NZ's noisy underground, Mermaidens have shared the stage with Death Cab For Cutie, Sleater-Kinney, Gang of Four, Mac DeMarco, Lorde and The Veils, graced Laneway Festival’s lineup and toured extensively in Europe, the UK, and Australia. Artistic polymaths, the group curate their own boutique Mermgrown festival, make their own music videos, cover artwork and even have their own custom Moon Cycle guitar pedal.
