Combining the deep, rich vocal styles of gospel and house music with the more radio-friendly song structures found in R&B and indie electronica, London-based singer Moko quickly rose in 2013 thanks to her single "Freeze." Growing up a church singer in a house full of soul and gospel records, Moko fronted bands at first, but then launched a solo career after graduating from Goldsmiths University. In 2013 the tracks "Freeze" and "Summon the Strength" appeared online, both promoting the release of her debut EP Black.
