Contemporary composer Nathan Shubert (they/them), originally from Canada and now based in Berlin, brings an intimate, observational approach to modern classical music. Their fourth full-length album, ISO, is a bare, heartfelt collection of felted piano works recorded live off the floor — no edits, overdubs, or headphones — in their Vancouver home studio just before relocating to Germany.
Shubert’s previous album, The Moon From Here (2022), concluded a naturalistic trilogy exploring loss, solitude, and resilience during upheaval. Known for emotionally resonant performances, Shubert has toured extensively across Europe and North America, with recent appearances at Q3Ambientfest and Piano Day concerts in Berlin, Düsseldorf, and Stockholm.
Their reflective compositions and minimalist aesthetic continue to resonate with fans of ambient, neoclassical, and piano music worldwide.
