With his new album Sooner/Later, Diederik Nomden shows that he has reached a new phase in his musical journey.
His fourth solo album focuses more on his origins as a pianist and songwriter, without letting go of his signature Sixties-inspired guitar compositions. The result is a layered and intimate album that focuses on Nomden's development as an artist and storyteller.
Through numerous performances with his solo theatre show ROOTS, Nomden has further refined his personal style. This makes Sooner/Later his most introspective and compelling work to date. Where predecessors Wingman Returns and Parallel Universe already went deep, Sooner/Later brings the listener even closer to the essence of his music.
Lyrically, Nomden consciously plays with time. Mixing events, fantasies and memories from the present and recent past creates a field of tension in his stories. What is now, what was then, what is real, what is made up?
With an open approach to production, Nomden has deliberately left room for spontaneous influences and unexpected twists. The album embraces a broad spectrum of musical influences, where the atmosphere of London and Laurel Canyon in the late 60s and early 70s remains palpable, but new sounds and eras also find their way into the music.
Sooner/Later will be released May 2025 for streaming services.
