The seven-piece South Korean girl group Oh My Girl became a firm fixture in the Korean and Japanese pop world, with releases such as 2019's Eternally and 2020's The Fifth Season embracing an infectious mix of K-pop, J-pop, and EDM.
Formed in 2015 by WM Entertainment and touted as the sister group to labelmates B1A4, the group consisted Hyojung, Mimi, YooA, Seunghee, Jiho, JinE, Binnie, and Arin. Their debut EP, the eponymous Oh My Girl, appeared just a few months after their unveiling, instantly earning the group a fan base. Their sophomore EP, Closer, appeared a few months later and the band spent their time performing live and taking part in fan meet-and-greets. 2016 saw the release of their third EP, Pink Ocean, and the group also played their first concert, selling out two nights in just minutes. At the end of the year, JinE left due to health issues, and the band continued as a seven-piece. Three more EPs followed -- 2017's Coloring Book and 2018's Secret Garden and Remember Me -- and more sold-out shows before the group readied their debut album. With Oh My Girl making waves not only in their native Korea but also Japan, Oh My Girl Japan Debut Album was released first at the beginning of 2019. Their debut Korean album, The Fifth Season, followed a few months later. Riding on the wave of their Japanese success with their first album, they quickly released Oh My Girl Japan 2nd Album to capitalize on the momentum. At the beginning of 2020, their third Japanese album, Eternally, was issued, with the EP Nonstop following just a few months later. In 2021, the group issued their eighth EP, Dear Oh My Girl, which included the single "Dun Dun Dance." ~ Rich Wilson
