Psychic Friend is a side project for Imperial Teen guitarist/vocalist Will Schwartz. After having made a dance-pop record under the name Hey Willpower in collaboration with Tussle's Tomo Yasuda in 2008, Schwartz next began working with multi-instrumentalist Bo Boddie on a project that was inspired by '70s singer/songwriters like Todd Rundgren and Carole King, and based around Schwartz's piano playing. Psychic Friend played their first show at San Francisco's Noisepop Fest in February of 2012. They played more shows during the year and also began work on an album (with the help of drummers Tripp Beam and Hole's Patty Schemel.) Preceded by the single "Once a Servant," My Rocks Are Dreams was released by Dangerbird Records in early 2013. ~ Tim Sendra, Rovi
