SOUL + HOUSE + JAZZ = SHAZZ
Coming from the Techno movement of the 90's and indisputable reference of the French Touch, SHAZZ has built up a special place on the French electronic scene, thanks to his crystal clear and melancolic melodies that are his trademarks.
In the mid-1980s, Shazz moved to the capital and quickly became a part of the Parisian nightlife scene. He began composing a few tracks, despite having no prior knowledge of writing music. Encouraged by Didier Lestrade, a music journalist for Libération, Shazz released his first EP, "Moonflower," in 1992, on the Fnac Music Dance Division label, run by Eric Morand. Within the label, he worked alongside Laurent Garnier and Ludovic Navarre (aka St Germain), with whom he collaborated on several EPs under the pseudonyms Ln'S, Nuages, Soofle, and Choice (Acid Eiffel), while also releasing his own records under the name Shazz (Back in Manhattan), Orange, and Aurora Borealis (The Milky Way). It was only natural that he followed Eric Morand when the latter created the F-Communications label in 1994.
In the late 1990s, Shazz left F-Com and signed with his first major label, Sony/Columbia. His first album was nominated for a Victoires de la Musique award.
