Hi! It's Giancarlo here. Space 9 is my musical project, born out of my love for Funk and Disco Music, synthesizers, and 4 on the floor dance music. The name references two of my favorite words: "Space", which I believe is the most important element in the creation of music. If you think about it, notes without space wouldn't be able to create a melody. On the other hand, percussion elements without "space" wouldn't be able to create a beat. So we could say we owe "Space" some recognition, don't you think? As far as the number "9" is concerned, well, is the number of universal love, faith, and eternity.
After working in the NYC music industry as a producer and session musician for over 7 years, I released my first single called "It's Your Night back in 2017, which gained the attention of many independent music blogs and media channels. It was in that same year that I decided to move to Los Angeles, where I started my career as a touring guitarist, become the go-to string bender for acts such as Skizzy Mars, Quinn XCII, and Lauren Sanderson.
After almost 3 years helping others bring their vision to reality on and off the stage, I came to the realization that something in my life was missing, and no wonder what it was: the opportunity to express myself creating music I love to. Because of this, I decided to bring Space 9 back: my own personal tribute to a very important genre in the development of my personal sound: 70's and 80's Funk, Soul, and Disco music.
