North Carolina born, Swiffababy (b.k.a. Swift), is poised to propel to the top of the music game. His fusion of quick-witted raps and soulful melodies first spawned his smash hit “Pull Up.”
“I have a certain way of making music, I started off rapping and hardcore boom bap, where I am from that is what we do. I bring a piece of hip-hop and soul into the commercialism of music now,” explains Swift.
The Atlanta transplant by way of Durham, North Carolina saw local success in his hometown as a part of groups. It wasn’t until Swift relocated to Atlanta and embarked on a solo career that he was able to build his own fanbase. Swift’s unique blend of old school hip-hop with a new school spin helped to separate him from other Atlanta artists. The industry eventually took notice, and Swift was afforded the opportunity to work with notable artists such as 9th Wonder, Don Cannon, Drumma Boy, Maestro, No I.D, Shawty Redd, Sunny Digital, Jim Jones, Gorilla Zoe, August Alsina, DJ Nando, Brian Dawson and many more.
As Swift’s buzz in Atlanta grew, his music caught the attention of Grammy award-winning artist Akon, which lead to Swift’s deal with Konlive Distributions. In February 2012, Swift was picked up by Def Jam Records and signed his second major deal. Swift`s first single “I Like” featuring Young Jeezy also enjoyed commercial success.
Now, the former Def Jam and Epic Records signee steps out independently to make his comeback, positioning his brand for more commercial success.
