Trumpetist composer and producer Etienne Sevet mixes latin, caribbean, west african, jazz and hip hop influences, under his moniker The Bongo Hop.
He’s not really the typical musician who started playing as a child or studied at a conservatory, but more of a jack-of-all-trades who got into music late, after living several lives on the road. The name itself, comes from a vintage indie comic book depicting the adventures of some kind of 1980s ivorian Corto Maltese.
Originally hailing from Bordeaux (FR) he grew up under the influence of the local guinean, senegalese & caribbean music scene. After several years in Cali Colombia working as a music journalist, he moved back to Europe, ending up in Lyon, where he met producer Patchworks (<a href="spotify:artist:6MQoRoLtsUg7Fzi5nJGmC1" data-name="Voilaaa">Voilaaa</a> <a href="spotify:artist:4RLh1owxLqSCGyVgm875AG" data-name="João Selva">João Selva</a>). Together they produced The Bongo Hop's first two records.
