With a shared passion for traditional Afro-Peruvian music and global DJ culture, Novalima, formed by producers Rafael Morales, Grimaldo del Solar and Ramon Perez-Prieto, stands in the common ground bridging past and future, uniting tradition and innovation.
During their career, Novalima has garnered worldwide critical acclaim from mainstream (NPR, UK Guardian, Wall Street Journal, La Presse, Metro, Billboard), delivered legendary performances around the world at festivals such as Roskilde, WOMAD, NYC Central Park, Montreal Jazz Festival and Chicago’s Millennium Park, earned a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Album, and were featured in cult filmmaker Robert Rodriguez’s hit Mexploitation movie Machete.
They have internationally released 7 studio albums (Novalima, Afro, Coba Coba, Karimba, Planetario, Ch’usay and La Danza) plus many remixes with various labels from around the world which have held #1 spots on the US College Music Journal Latin Alternative and New World Radio Charts as well as the Top 10 Billboard World Music Chart.
This 2025, Novalima celebrates their 24th anniversary with the release of La Danza De Luxe Version, on San Francisco’s Six Degrees Records, and an international tour that will take them to North America, Latam & Europe.
