Jimena Angel’s music—now infused with electronic and Afro-Latin rhythms—is the result of over two decades of musical exploration. Through her participation in various projects and her solo career, for which she earned a Latin Grammy nomination, she has developed a rich and unique sound.
Over the years, Jimena has experimented with a wide range of genres. She began her journey in the '90s with the rock band Pepa Fresa, later exploring Colombian rhythms under the mentorship of Teto Ocampo (Mucho Indio) and Iván Benavides. She delved into electronic fusion with Richard Blair (Sidestepper) and embraced reggae as the guitarist for Alerta Kamarada.
These diverse influences and collaborations have shaped her signature style: a tropical, electronic hybrid sound with hypnotic melodies.
In recent years, Jimena has released one album, Aire, and four singles—Llamameya, Tengo lo que Tengo, Plátano Maduro, and Nadie—under the French label Elis Records. These releases feature collaborations with acclaimed musicians and producers such as iZem, Ben Abarbanel-Wolff, Umoja, Poirier, Nikitch, and Joaquín Cornejo.
Jimena is now preparing to release her upcoming album on YUKSEK’s label, PARTYFINE.
Get ready for a sweet, groovy, and colorful Colombian storm coming your way soon!
