A Musical Journey of Friendship and Exploration
The Cavers, led by Alan Hugo and Patrick Unternährer, have been making music together for over two decades, sharing early guitar lessons, skate trips, and band experiences. Their deep bond and shared understanding of songwriting shine through in their music. Most of their latest album, Now Swim , was written during the pandemic and produced in collaboration with Philippe Laffer at Alterna Recording Studios in Basel.
As musical "spelunkers", The Cavers–accompanied by Julien Pinheiro on drums and Fabian Kraus on bass–explore the depths of life with curiosity and passion. Even before releasing professional recordings, their demo Before the Tide Pulls Us In (2017) was featured at major Swiss festivals like Gurtenfestival, Openair St. Gallen, and Moon and Stars Locarno, with airplay on SRF3 and other stations.
The band’s 2018 EP Down a Mountain brought further success, with performances at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Seaside Festival, and support shows for artists like Current Swell and The Gardener & The Tree.
Their latest album, Now Swim (2022), led to their first tour in Germany and over 40 shows across Switzerland. SRF3 named them “SRF3 Best Talent,” and Now Swim has garnered over 360,000 streams on Spotify.
The band draws inspiration from artists such as José González, Ben Howard, Wilco, Junip and Alexi Murdoch and can be classified within the genres of Indie Folk, Indie Rock, and Chamber Pop.
