The Cavers, led by Alan Hugo and Patrick Unternährer, have been making music together for over two decades, sharing early guitar lessons, skate trips, and band experiences. Most of their latest album, <a href="spotify:album:6ni0H3Kd8U1KY4sxjVF1k0" data-name="Now Swim">Now Swim</a> , was written during the pandemic and produced in collaboration with Philippe Laffer at Alterna Recording Studios in Basel.
As musical "spelunkers", The Cavers–accompanied by Julien Pinheiro on drums and Fabian Kraus on bass–explore the depths of life with curiosity and passion. Even before releasing professional recordings, their demo <a href="spotify:album:2a7ZIdZASMtVLFuHqzMi4W" data-name="Before the Tide Pulls Us In">Before the Tide Pulls Us In</a> (2017) was featured at major Swiss festivals like Gurtenfestival, Openair St. Gallen, and Moon and Stars Locarno, with airplay on SRF3 and other stations.
The band’s 2018 EP <a href="spotify:album:2WkMsynBdZ6EboJFRYUt7N" data-name="Down a Mountain">Down a Mountain</a> brought further success, with performances at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Seaside Festival, and support shows for artists like Current Swell and The Gardener & The Tree.
Their latest album, <a href="spotify:album:6ni0H3Kd8U1KY4sxjVF1k0" data-name="Now Swim">Now Swim</a> (2022), led to their first tour in Germany and over 40 shows across Switzerland and SRF3 named them “SRF3 Best Talent”
The band draws inspiration from artists such as <a href="spotify:artist:6xrCU6zdcSTsG2hLrojpmI" data-name="José González">José González</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:5schNIzWdI9gJ1QRK8SBnc" data-name="Ben Howard">Ben Howard</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:2QoU3awHVdcHS8LrZEKvSM" data-name="Wilco">Wilco</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:7HcipAIJatVGT4U6HQrnFW" data-name="Junip">Junip</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:25mrbNwFzoqPWyYXLhiDRw" data-name="Alexi Murdoch">Alexi Murdoch</a> and can be classified within the genres of Indie Folk, Indie Rock, and Chamber Pop.
