With their line up consisting of Nagash (vocals/ bass), Blackheart (guitar), Astennu (guitar), Hellhammer (drums) and Sverd (keyboards), it seemed obvious that their parents blessed them with these names just for the sake of starting a goth/ metal act. Having gotten their start in 1992, Covenant made their way from playing clubs all through their home base of Norway to releasing their first album In Times Before the Light in 1997 (originally scheduled for 1995, but label problems got in the way). After signing a four album deal with Nuclear Blast Records not too long after, Covenant released their follow up Nexus Polaris the following year. Animatronic appeared in 1999. ~ Mike DaRonco, Rovi
