Hailing from Portugal's Setúbal bay, Vaiapraia is a London-based DIY songwriting and performance project that, from its humble solo beginnings in 2013, has since swelled into a collective endeavour. Over the last decade a rotating cast of bandmates, collaborators, performers and experiences have combined to mimic, honor and challenge the thresholds and traditions of pop/rock songcraft. Vaiapraia's wild live shows are raucous, catchy and queer. For Portuguese-speakers, the lyrics are at once cathartic, political, and laden with poetic dissonance.
