With his fusion of Afrobeats, Hip Hop, Highlife, and Soul , Zugo is one of Nigeria’s most exciting new voices. His breakout single Colorado featuring Dai Verse became a viral hit, earning millions of streams across platforms. Known for his sharp songwriting, smooth vocals, and sonic perfectionism, Zugo mixes much of his own music—crafting songs that are both emotionally raw and spiritually uplifting.
Born Chukwuezugolum Tochukwu Okafor in Aba, Nigeria, in 1998, Zugo’s musical journey began in the church choir and matured through years of songwriting. A desire for better recordings pushed him to teach himself music production and audio engineering, honing a perfectionist ear that continues to shape his unique sound. After finishing secondary school, he moved to Owerri for university, where he began building a cult following and met key collaborators, including Dai Verse and LoftyBeats, the producer of Colorado.
In 2023, he released his debut EP Meraki, blending love, hustle, and identity. Standout singles like Hold Something, Flights and 4dnyt deepened his sound, blending southeast roots with global appeal. In 2025, Zugo returned with More Than Enough, a heartfelt anthem of gratitude and the lead single from his upcoming EP Geography is Destiny—a project that explores purpose, faith, and timeless love.
Zugo’s sound is inspired by legends like Osadebe, Flavour, Burna Boy, J Hus, and Kanye West. His music is grounded in culture but made for the world.
