For someone who never imagined themselves to be a dance music artist, Amy Douglas has made quite the name for herself with hit singles such as “Never Saw It Coming” on DFA to collaborations with the likes of Róisin Murphy, Horse Meat Disco, and The Blessed Madonna, to name a few, then joined forces with Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard to release the highly acclaimed project HARD FEELINGS on Domino Records. It’s easy to see why Douglas has become a household name. Her incredible voice and stellar songwriting skills has made her dance music’s bonafide rock chick; she has THE personality to match her big voice. A true disco diva, she takes glitz and glam with her everywhere she goes, but with a punk veneer, her rock and roll attitude ALWAYS driving the vehicle. As such her collaborations are like looking at a list of dance music royalty, including Saison, Juan MacLean, Luke Solomon, Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard, Justin Strauss, Crooked Man, Low Steppa, and more. Her vocals also appear on a number of Glitterbox and Defected releases, most notably the Horse Meat Disco LP.
“Freak At Night” on Razor N Tape, in late 2023 cemented that position; and with “Whatever Daddy Says” a collaboration with bonafide hitmakers 808 Beach (Bill Coleman and John “JC” Carr respectively) for toucan sounds, her signature pen and pipes are perfectly featured on this fun naughty romp of a bomb.
