Born Gold is the subversive electronic pop persona of Canadian Cecil Frena, formerly of Edmonton, Alberta's <a href="spotify:artist:05I5mN1Z7Rx1XVnA4DnJED">Gobble Gobble</a>, which spawned the like-minded <a href="spotify:artist:1TtJ8j22Roc24e2Jx3OcU4">Purity Ring</a>. Frena adopted the Born Gold moniker in 2011, issuing a handful of singles that were collected in his debut LP, Bodysongs. As with <a href="spotify:artist:05I5mN1Z7Rx1XVnA4DnJED">Gobble Gobble</a>, Born Gold's live act is theatrical and interactive, incorporating objects like shovels and hockey helmets as instruments and encouraging audience participation.
