The city of Lisbon that gave birth to Fogo Fogo is vibrant and special: it is Lisbon where all Africa is embraced, especially the one that speaks Portuguese. Lisbon where it is still possible to discover pieces of vinyl of “Os Tubarões” and all the relics of the authors that recorded the diaspora of Cape Verde in the 80s and 90s and that the world never heard. This is Lisbon that, like a volcano, expelled Fogo Fogo, a reference to Ilha do Fogo (Island of Fire) in Cape Verde.

The project was created by Francisco Rebelo (bass), João Gomes (keyboards), Márcio Silva (drums) and Danilo Lopes and David Pessoa (voices /guitar) and represents the experienced and energetic strength of these musicians who have long accustomed us by these stages all around the world. The five together add up to almost 120 years of career. Each of them owns an immense talent, consolidated by the experience of many years on some of the largest stages in the world, with projects that have been integrating.

Nástio Mosquito, an angolan poet and musician, writes about Fogo Fogo:
"Who told them to be born? I hear Fogo Fogo and I feel like they belong to me. Witnessing Fogo Fogo feeds parts in us that has been hungry for human exchange. It's sweat-perfume that reminds us that having the will sometimes is enough!"
