James Heather

As a child James Heather&#39;s Grandad taught him composition &amp; how to manipulate the tuning of piano strings. Also inspired by <a href="spotify:artist:2wOqMjp9TyABvtHdOSOTUS" data-name="Ludwig van Beethoven">Ludwig van Beethoven</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:1Uff91EOsvd99rtAupatMP" data-name="Claude Debussy">Claude Debussy</a> &amp; his neighbour’s Acid House pirate radio show, the piano became a passion. After a near death experience &amp; period in a coma, he had an energy to step out as an artist. His art takes as much from electronic music in sensibility &amp; post-rock in its dynamic builds as it does its classical &amp; jazz grounding.

In 2022 Heather released his 2nd album <a href="spotify:album:77VUrQTnM0m5F1fIbdiwXr" data-name="Invisible Forces">Invisible Forces</a>. The album is about becoming aware of Invisible Forces around us to help deepen understanding of self &amp; connection to the world. The tracks (alongside <a href="spotify:album:7fNhlZ4KOktVAWHggoaLut" data-name="Modulations: EP2">Modulations: EP2</a>) were this time honed on the road, playing shows like Green Man, Glastonbury, Berlin Planetarium &amp; more. His approach, that he dubs ‘Pulse Music’, finds him playing freely, with no notation but instead instinct deciding where things go. In 2021 he released &#39;<a href="spotify:track:2iJFn6AhLd0NHUiIOvnKto" data-name="And She Came Home - Strings Version">And She Came Home - Strings Version</a>&#39; for <a href="spotify:album:36ry6OLPgVNFDj7Vx1HCjv" data-name="&#64;0 EP3">&#64;0 EP3</a> alongside <a href="spotify:artist:1tcgfoMTT1szjUeaikxRjA" data-name="Ryuichi Sakamoto">Ryuichi Sakamoto</a>.

Heather first released via Ahead Of Our Time in 2017, Ninja Tune founders <a href="spotify:artist:5wnhqlZzXIq8aO9awQO2ND" data-name="Coldcut">Coldcut</a>&#39;s label with <a href="spotify:album:3TSa6WxtocLiLAetifAz8v" data-name="Modulations: EP1">Modulations: EP1</a>, followed by <a href="spotify:album:2lsaczmzeH0JzES2smG9hU" data-name="Stories From Far Away On Piano">Stories From Far Away On Piano</a>.
