Karmawin is a Lyon-born composer and producer now based in Canada. Emerging from the punk underground before transitioning into the electronic scene as a live DJ, he found his signature sound in hip-hop and lo-fi in 2017. Influenced by Nujabes and French rap pioneers like Fonky Family and La Rumeur, this shift marked the beginning of his journey into beatmaking and textured, cinematic production.

His debut vinyl album Noir (2018, Postpartum Records) quickly sold out, followed by Crossway (2020), featuring collaborations with Ours Samplus and Goomar. He expanded his catalog with projects such as Rainy Moods, Summertime, and Zealot alongside U.S. rapper DistantStarr.

Karmawin’s sound bridges continents through collaborations with international artists, including Japanese MC TA-TI and Toronto-based rapper Classik. In 2024, he released the collaborative album Higher Frequencies with Classik, further refining his blend of jazzy and soulful hip-hop. The track “Self Made” from the project was notably featured in the football video game UFL, marking a step into sync placements.

Now based in Montréal, Karmawin has performed in recent years at events such as the Festival des Murales 2024, while continuing to develop a distinctive sound rooted in melody, atmosphere, and cross-cultural influence.
