Karmawin is a Lyon, France born composer, producer, and live artist now based in Canada. He began in the punk underground scene and later as a live DJ in the underground electronic circuit. In 2017, he shifted toward hip-hop and lo-fi, inspired by Nujabes and French rap icons like Fonky Family and La Rumeur. This marked the start of his journey into beatmaking and live performance.
His debut vinyl album Noir (2018, Postpartum Records) sold out quickly and was followed by Crossway (2020), featuring collaborations with French producers Ours Samplus and Goomar. He also released projects like Rainy Moods, Summertime, and Zealot with U.S. rapper DistantStarr.
Karmawin is known for his international collaborations with artists such as Japanese MC TA-TI and Toronto-based rapper Classik, with whom he released the jazzy rap single "Mad" in 2024.
Currently working on his third full-length album with U.S. label Cold Busted, KarmawiN continues to perform at festivals such as Montréal’s Festival des Murales 2024, while crafting melodic, cinematic, and soulful hip-hop that transcends borders.
