Critically acclaimed art-pop band Lavender Diamond are returning from an 8 year hiatus, with a brand new batch of cosmic love songs of peace. Their celestial, radio friendly sound transcends genre with Becky Stark’s pristine multi-octave voice, soaring arrangements from punk rock multi-instrumentalist/classical composer Steve Gregoropolos and Ron Rege Jr.’s percussion. In today’s divided, crumbling world, the band that Black Book once described as “mind-melting purity that could probably save lives,” seems to have reunited just in time. Forged in a dreamy 2003 Echo Park, while the country was entering into the Iraq War, the band Rolling Stone hailed as “a crystalline soprano showcased against a background of hypnotically rhythmic piano, guitar, and drums,” merged punk-rock doo-wop, folk, opera and a spiritual love of mainstream pop music. Their previous releases have earned them a devoted following, including John Waters, David Byrne, Miranda July and Sia, who directed the band’s video for “Open Your Heart”. They’ve garnered praise in Mojo,The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, Paper, Spin, The Washington Post, Los Angeles Magazine and BILLBOARD and toured with such bands as The Decemberists, Beck, The New Pornographers, Rilo Kiley, & She and Him, before taking a break that found Stark having her first child with fellow musician Nate Walcott (Bright Eyes).
