At the age of eleven, Wilde released his first single in November 1972, called "I Am an Astronaut”, and was instantly touted for teenybop stardom. The children's magazine Look-in featured Wilde and Donny Osmond on the cover in June 1973 with the headline "Is Ricky Wilde the new Donny?". "I Am an Astronaut" was covered by Snow Patrol for the Save the Children compilation album, Colours Are Brighter. Some of his later material (circa 1980) led to the 'discovery' of his sister Kim and for her, Wilde's new role was that of producer and co-writer, a role he has fulfilled up until present day. By his own admission, he was happy to be more in the background as of that moment, but still tours with his sister all over the World, acting as guitarist and MD of the Kim Wilde Band. Ricky produced three top ten hits with UK boyband Worlds Apart in the mid 80’s. In 2018 Ricky started up a podcast with famous blogger Lee Bennett and Eastenders soap star Jake Wood called 'Unsung Heroes' chatting with hit song writers and producers behind the scenes in the music industry. Ricky has been responsible for over 10 million albums and 20 million singles with hits such as ‘Kids In America’, ‘You Came’ and also produced a cover of ‘You Keep Me Hanging On’ with his sister Kim that climbed to number one in the USA. More recently, Ricky has written and produced a collaborative album with Nina called 'SCALA HEARTS', soon to be released on NewRetroWave.
