BlackByrd is one of South Africa's top celebrated recording bands, having successfully crossed over into both the English and Afrikaans markets. With a record number of 8 number 1 singles, their debut album, "Strong", reached a staggering gold status.
BlackByrd is also the featured band performing the theme tune, an adaptation of their song, "I feel good today", for South Africa’s most prominent breakfast television show, Expresso. BlackByrd has enjoyed tremendous success performing in the country's top musical events like "Afrikaans is Groot", "Skouspel", "Jacaranda Day" and "Kday". They also performed as the opening act for the International Band, Mike and the Mechanics, Jamiroquai, as well as the Italian crooner Patrizio Buanne.
After being mutually disbanded in 2017, BlackByrd returned to the music industry with a fresh new sound and two new members. Tarryn, Tasha and Tasché are thrilled to be exploring the world of country music with their playful edge, powerhouse vocals and unique harmonies. Their first self-penned single, "Didn't I", was released on 31 May 2024 and their second, self-penned single , "You Do You” is scheduled for release on 8 November 2024.
Their name, being inspired by the Beatles classic, "BlackBird", along with their strong sense of purpose in wanting to spread positivity, strength, love and light through their music, makes them a force to be reckoned with. BlackByrd… “singing in the dead of night, take these broken wings and learn to fly"
