Singer-songwriter and guitarist Simon Roberts originally hails from a small village, just outside of the cathedral city of Wakefield in West Yorkshire, England. Brought up by his mother and guitar playing step father, it was the latter who was his first real musical influence. Despite this, and having cut his teeth in school bands, Simon was encouraged to concentrate on academia, and even tried his hand as an electrical engineer for a while!
A move to Tenerife in the Canary Islands focused Simon back on his first love though, and having been ‘discovered’ on the Dutch version of reality TV show The Voice, the burgeoning singer-songwriter went on to work with labels such as BMG, Warner Brothers and Sony - eventually hooking up with Emiel van Rijthoven from Dutch electronic jazz outfit WAAN, and musician, painter and collage artist Stefan Siwabessy, with whom he is releasing the music you hear today.
The first fruit of the trio's labour is the plaintive “What Comes Around”, a slice of pop perfection that utilises restrained instrumentation to allow room for both Simon’s at times delicate, at other powerful vocal, as well as the exquisite melody and wordplay of songwriters David Schuler and Ricki Lee Coulter.
